Halloween Special

A nice cozy drink in bed before going to sleep is a wonderful luxury in theory; less wonderful when an accident with a mandrake results in red wine all over the sheets.

Recriminations give way to negotiations. Result: Joly takes the bloody-looking laundry out to the hall for the rat staff to sort out (and perhaps goes to fetch more wine if he's so inclined), while Lesgle brings down fresh bedding from the inconveniently-high closet shelf and makes the bed.

Of course, by the time Joly gets back, Lesgle has wandered off-mission. He has a blanket draped over his gangly frame and is swooping around preparing to shout BOO as soon as the door opens. What? It's almost midnight, so it's almost Halloween! He's just being seasonal.

Joly leans over to try and catch the glass too.
It falls to the ground.

Right through him.

Well, it's obvious what's happened.

"Boooooo!BOOOOO!" He explains.

"Boo," Bossuet says drily. "Booo, boo. Boo."

He waves a hand to gesture, and finds that it produces a sort of rattling-chain noise.

Joly giggles. It makes an odd echoey effect. He waves towards the stairs and gestures to the general atmosphere of Milliways.

"BOOooo! Boo. Boooo,boooooo."

...This may be a problem.

That must be the scariest giggle Lesgle has ever heard. He starts laughing as well, with much the same effect. Oh, lord. This should be much more distressing than it is.

"Boo," he agrees to Joly's proposal, or what he takes it to be. "Booooooo." Ahem. "Boo-oo-oooo?"

"Booooo" Joly agrees. He tries to indicate some flaws in the plan. "Whooohooo" he manages.

"Oh, this is frighteningly inconvenient" he says.

...Wait, really? That's what it takes?

"...Terror-bly so," he finds himself saying. He should regret it. He doesn't.

His attempt to say Let's go! just turns into another Booooooo! but he's sure Joly understands.

They've known each other through enough incoherent pre-coffee mornings for that to be translatable, yes. Joly ghosts about in various directions, questioningly. "Boooo?"

...He wouldn't mind keeping the floating. But there's the vocabulary.

"OoooOOO." Yes, blanket-ghosts have a limited range of expression. It's true. And Lesgle finds himself filled with a not-very-nuanced desire to be cartoonishly spooky.

...Also, first, to waft up and say "Boo!" at the cherubs. Once that's done, he's good to go haunting anywhere Joly likes.
